Located in the southwestern portion of Wake County is the fast growing town of Holly Springs. Holly Springs is convenient to all Triangle area destinations such as the Research Triangle Park, the Raleigh-Durham International Airport, and located 30 miles or less from Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. Holly Springs has maintained a small town atmosphere dedicated to families, in the midst of major metropolitan cities. The rich historical past of Holly Springs has seen many bouts of progression and recession; however, today, with the close proximity to the rapidly growing towns surrounding the Triangle, Holly Springs is on the verge of a boom.
The town government is determined to ensure that Holly Springs grows in a positive manner, ensuring economic stability, preserving open space, and creating public areas for social gatherings in this town with a current population around 18,000 people. The town is balancing commercial and residential development in order to create an ideal community for residents. In the summer of 2006, pharmaceutical giant Novartis announced they will be building a manufacturing facility in Holly Springs to be completed in late 2008, bringing over 300 new jobs to the town. |
The residents of Holly Springs have many annual events such as an Easter Egg Hunt, Christmas Parade and HollyFest Celebration, along with many beautiful parks and recreational facilities to keep them active. Three of the favorite gathering spots are:
- Parrish Womble Park: This community park offers 46 acres including a fishing pond, picnic shelter, amphitheater, playground, baseball and soccer fields, paved walking trail, horseshoes, and volleyball.
- Bass Lake Park: This 90-acre park opened in 2004 and features a stocked lake, canoes, small boats, and fishing gear for rent. There is a 1.25 mile nature trail with scenic overlooks and a special events and meeting center for families to enjoy.
- Harris Lake County Park: This lake park offers residents hiking trails, 8.5 miles of mountain bike trails, disc-golf course, a fishing pier, playground, picnic area, boat ramp, and ample hunting opportunities.

The brand new Holly Springs Branch Library and Cultural Center is a block from the new Town Hall. The center offers a Performing Arts Theatre with state-of-the-art sound, video, and lighting. The Conference Center has four multi-purpose rooms for meetings and events. The Springs Outdoor Stage has lawn seating for outdoor festivals and performances and The Grand Lobby provides for an art exhibition space with a soaring atrium ceiling and gourmet coffee bar.
